Scott Yoo

Scott Yoo, music director and violin
Scott began his public career performing with the Boston Symphony at age 12. He went on to win the First Prize in the Josef Gingold International Violin competition and received an Avery Fisher Career Grant. As a chamber musician, Scott has appeared with the Boston Chamber Music Society and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and is a regular performer with the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, among others. As a guest conductor, he has led the Colorado, Dallas, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New World, San Francisco and Utah Symphonies as well as the English Chamber Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Andrew Smith
Jason Uyeyama, violin
Is associate professor of music and director of string studies at La Sierra University, where he teaches violin, viola and chamber music. He has appeared in the Aspen, Taos and Tanglewood festivals, and performs regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2008, he became music director of Community Kids Connection, a mentoring program offering free music lessons to low income children in San Bernardino, CA. Jason received his master’s degree from the Juilliard School.

Paul Severtson
Paul Severtson, viola
Is Co-Concertmaster of the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra and a founding member of the Tolosa Strings Chamber Ensemble. A native Californian and a graduate of Yale College and the Yale School of Music, Paul has performed in numerous symphony, opera, ballet and chamber orchestras. He also plays with popular, rock ‘n roll and jazz groups, contemporary music ensembles and as a folk musician with special interest in the Norwegian hardanger fiddle. Paul is the development director at Public Radio KCBX FM-90.
Madeleine Kabat
Madeleine Kabat, cello
Has performed as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra. She has won top prizes in the Klein, Fischoff, Hellam, and William C. Byrd International Competitions, and serves as a substitute cellist for the Houston Symphony and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. This past year, she has been a guest artist for La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest, a gala in Carnegie Hall for Keshet Eilon, in Mexico City on a trip sponsored by the Juilliard School, and as soloist with the Springfield (MO) Symphony. Madeleine holds diplomas from Juilliard, Rice University and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Grace Hong
Grace Hong, oboe
Is currently a post-graduate student at DePaul University in Chicago. Grace has performed with the Chicago Symphony, LA Opera, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and Green Bay Symphony. She also went on a 2008 European Tour with the Chicago Symphony. Recently, she performed the complete Ring Cycle with the LA Opera. Her festival appearances include Aspen, Colorado College Music Festival and Pacific Music Festival. She received her undergraduate degree from Oberlin and her master's degree from Roosevelt University.
Ran Kampel
Ran Kampel, clarinet
Israeli-born clarinetist Ran Kampel has won top prizes in many prestigious international competitions, including the 6th LISMA International Competition, the Heida Hermanns International Competition and the Turgeman Competition. As an orchestral clarinetist, Ran has performed with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, the USC Chamber Orchestra, the Eastman Philharmonia, the American Academy of Conducting in Aspen, the Colorado College Music Festival Orchestra, and the World Youth Symphony Orchestra among others. At summer festivals, Ran has performed as an orchestral and chamber musician in the Aspen, Colorado College, Norfolk, and Sarasota Festivals. Ran graduated with high distinction from the Eastman School of Music and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree from USC Thornton School of Music.
Konstantine Valianatos
Konstantine Valianatos, piano
Pianist Konstantine Valianatos has won numerous international piano competitions, including the Seiler, Ibiza, Senigallia and the San Gemini International Piano competitions. He is also the winner of the Gina Bachauer, Yamaha, Onassis, and I.K.Y. Foundation scholarship competitions. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout his native Greece, as well as at the Aspen Festival and in Chopin Festivals in Paris and New York. After graduating with honors from the Greek National Conservatory of Music, he continued his studies in Paris at the École Normale de Musique and the Schola Cantorum and is currently completing professional studies at the Juilliard School as a recipient of the George and Marie Vergottis scholarship.
Caroline Campbell
Caroline Campbell, violin
Violinist Caroline Campbell began playing violin at age 3, and went on to appear as soloist with symphony orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Indianapolis Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra. She has taken the top prize at many national and international violin competitions, and has performed throughout the US (including Carnegie Hall) and Europe. Selected as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, she was honored at a White House ceremony and performed at the Kennedy Center. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a BS in Symbolic Systems and an MA in Sociology. A musician of diverse talents, she is currently the Concertmaster of the Santa Barbara Symphony and can also be heard on many albums and film soundtracks, performing often for artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Chris Botti, and the Black Eyed Peas, and can be seen frequently on TV shows including American Idol and The Tonight Show.
Andrew Smith
Andrew Smith, cello
Is associate professor of music at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Principal
Cellist of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. He is a member of the Camerata Deiá, resident
ensemble with the Festival Internacional de Deiá, and a founding member of the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival, a summer music program in southern Italy, where he taught
and performed from its inception in 1998 until 2008. Andy received his DMA from UCSB, where he was a member of the Young Artists String Quartet.

Paul Woodring

Paul Woodring, organ
Organist Paul Woodring has worked with some of America’s finest concert choirs and opera companies, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir, and the Los Angeles Opera Company. Paul has won several prestigious awards,
including first prize in the Western Regional American Guild of Organists Competition. He is currently an accompanist and coach at the Music Department of Cal Poly, and the University Organist for the Christopher Cohan Center, presiding over the Forbes Pipe Organ.


Susan Davies
Susan Davies, piano
Pianist Susan Azaret Davies has performed with the Oregon Bach Festival, the Cabrillo Festival, the San Luis Obispo Symphony, the Santa Maria Symphony, the Festival Internacional de Musica de Morelia, Mexico, with the Gachinger Kantorei of Stuttgart and the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center, and in a chamber music concert at Carnegie's Weill Hall. Susan is a member of the music faculty at Cal Poly, where she teaches piano and accompanying and serves as a staff accompanist. Susan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and a Master’s Degree in Accompanying form U.S.C.
