We invite you to an evening you can only get here—a concert featuring Festival Mozaic Music Director Scott Yoo’s favorite chamber works to play, with some of the best of America’s young generation of chamber musicians. In 1892, Dvořák was invited to direct a newly-established National Conservatory in New York, founded with the help of the Carnegies and Vanderbilts. Though the Conservatory sadly did not survive the Great Depression, Dvořák’s immense love for American musical idioms resulted in this beautiful work composed in the American heartland. Young American composer Patrick Zimmerli draws on another indigenous American music—jazz. This trio, premiered and recorded by Scott Yoo and John Novacek, is a Brahmsian sweep using jazz tonalities.
