Trumpet
Roy Poper

Roy Poper, Principal
Roy Poper is Principal Trumpet of the Los Angeles Master Choral Sinfonia, and former Principal Trumpet of both the LA Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Music Center Opera. As a chamber musician, Roy was a member of the Modern Brass Quintet, with whom he toured for over 15 years. In addition to his many performing activities, Roy is on the faculty of the Oberlin College of Music. Roy has been the Festival Orchestra’s Principal Trumpet since 1982.

Avi Bialo
Avi Bialo
Avi Bialo received his bachelor of music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory and master of music degree from Juilliard. Avi attended the Aspen Music Festival, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Lake Placid Institute Trumpet Seminar. He was awarded the “Outstanding Soloist” award from Wynton Marsalis for his participation in the “Essentially Ellington” Jazz Band Competition.
Jack Brndiar

Jack Brndiar
Jack Brndiar is Principal Trumpet of the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and a member of the Paragon Brass Quintet and the Opera Cleveland Orchestra. He has performed, recorded and toured with the Cleveland Orchestra as an extra and substitute musician since 1974. Jack is on the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music and at Baldwin-Wallace. He has also performed with the Metropolitan Opera, the Canton Symphony, Akron Symphony, Blossom Festival Orchestra and Band, and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.

Michael Davis
Michael Davis
Michael Davis has performed with such ensembles as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Santa Barbara Symphony, Philip Glass Ensemble, Riverside Symphony, and the Santa Clarita Master Chorale. Michael has collaborated with popular musicians Devendra Banhardt, Fabrizio Moretti, Noah Georgeson, Adam Green and Rodrigo Amerante. Most recently, Michael traveled to Japan to perform as a guest artist with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra.
Trombone
Andrew Malloy
Andrew Malloy, Principal
Andrew Malloy performs as a regular member of the Pasadena, Santa Barbara and New West Symphonies and The Crown City Brass Quintet. In addition, he works with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra as well as the Long Beach Symphony, Pacific Symphony and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He teaches trombone at Cal State University, Northridge and Pepperdine University. Andy received an BM from the University of Massachusetts and an MM from the Juilliard School.
William Booth
William Booth
William Booth is the Principal Trombone in the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and the Pasadena Symphony and is a member of the music faculty at UC Santa Barbara. Bill studied at the Tanglewood Festival and holds a BME from the University of Kansas, a masters of music from Catholic University and an MBA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He played the jazz chair with the USAF Airmen of Note.
Alvin Veeh
Alvin Veeh
Alvin Veeh is a member of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony and the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra. He also performs regularly with the Pacific, Pasadena and Santa Barbara Symphonies, as well as with the Pasadena Pops and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Al holds a bachelor of music from the University of Southern California and has served on the faculty at Cal State Fullerton and Cal Arts.
Tuba
 
Douglas Tornquist
Douglas Tornquist, Principal
Douglas Tornquist has taught award-wining brass quintets at USC and is also a member of the faculties of the California State Universities at Northridge and Fullerton, and the California Institute of the Arts. He is a regular performer with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Opera. His degrees are from Wichita State University and the University of Southern California, where he earned his DMA. He was a prize winner at the International Tuba and Euphonium Competiton in Riva del Garda, Italy.
Jim Self
Jim Self
Jim Self is Principal Tuba/Cimbasso of the Los Angeles Opera, the Pasadena and Pacific Symphonies and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He holds degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Catholic University and a DMA from the University of Southern California, where he has taught for 34 years. Jim is a past president of ITEA, a former member of the U.S. Army Band, Washington, D.C, and was on the faculty at the University of Tennessee.
